Homemade beef burgers are a better and often cheaper option to the shop bought versions. Sneak some veg into the burger and some salad into the buns and they become positively healthy!!
300g lean minced beef
50g wholemeal breadcrumbs
50g carrots, grated
1 small onion, grated
Small handful of parsley, chopped
2 tbsp tomato sauce
1. Heat the grill to medium. In a large bowl, mix together the first six ingredients, then season well. Shape the mixture into four burgers and place on a baking tray.
2. Grill the burgers for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through, then keep them warm.
3. Split each burger bun in half, then place under the grill, cut side up, and lightly toast for one minute. Fill the toasted buns with some salad and top with a burger and a good dollop of tomato salsa.
